7-04-06 - Jersey City Working Fire

On Tuesday, July 4th at 20:56hrs Jersey City Box 952 was transmitted for a report of a fire. Engine 22 arrived first due to find people on the second floor out the window with an escape ladder nothing initially showing from the exterior. Companies had a visual of smoke through the first floor door window, engine 22 forced entry, proceeded to the second floor with a line. Engine 17 stretched a back up line but were stopped when the smoke disappated as the acended the stairs behind engine 22. The working fire was transmitted at that time due to the unknown origin of the fire. Engine 17 had rerouted to the basement door, Tower Ladder 4 forced entry and 17 proceeded down and were met with moderate smoke. Engine 17 then called for the line to be charged when they located the source, which turned out to be rubbish by the dryer.
