 10-21-05 - Paramus Overturned Tanker

At approximately 935am on Friday, October 21st 2005, the Paramus NJ Fire Department responded to the Route 17 North ramp to Ridgewood Avenue East after 9-1-1 calls reported an overturned truck. Upon arrival, companies found an overturned 8,000 galon home fuel oil tanker overturned and leaking product. Quick response from local haz-mat units and the town DPW with large amounts of sand, firefighters were able to contain the spill before any additional contamination could be made. Mutual aid haz-mat teams from Bergen County, Garfield and Fairlawn responded to assist. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries and released on scene. No other injuries were reported.
